UNESCO-ICHEI endeavours to provide a theoretical and operational basis for the digitalisation and AI application of higher education. UNESCO-ICHEI collaborates with higher education institutions and international organisations to conduct readiness analysis and regional studies, and independently conducts project-based research, drawing on successful experiences.
  • Analysis of Current Trends and Activities Related to the Integration of Artificial Intelligence into Higher Education in Central Asia and Beyond

    Based on the High-level Policy Dialogue held in Uzbekistan in June 2024 and related research conducted by the Tashkent University of Information Technology, this report provides an overview of the state of AI integration into higher education in CIS countries at the national and institutional levels, and made recommendations based on the outcomes from the policy dialogue.

  • Transforming the digital landscape of higher education in Latin America and the Caribbean

     

    UNESCO-ICHEI, in collaboration with the UNESCO International Institute for Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean, officially launched a joint research project during the Third UNESCO World Higher Education Conference in May 2022. The project aims to unlock the potential of digital transformation in higher education across Latin America and the Caribbean. It provides practical guidance and policy recommendations on how to implement change in a manner that is equitable, sustainable, and valuable for the region.
  • Research Report on Digital Transformation of Higher Education Teaching and Learning in the Arab Region

     

    UNESCO-ICHEI, in collaboration with the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), has completed the English version of the "Research Report on Digital Transformation of Higher Education Teaching and Learning in the Arab Region." The report focuses on the application of ICT technology in higher education. It analyses the status and challenges of HEIs in Arab States in the process of higher education digital transformation. The report also includes case study of best practices from different countries and provides recommendations, to provide guidance and promote the digital transfromation of HEIs in Arab States.
  • Research report on Digital Talents and Digitization of Higher Education in Central Asia

     

    The report focuses on the talents within the digital industry and the digitalisation of higher education in Central Asian countries. It expounds upon the development of industrial digitalisation, the demand for talents, the opportunities and challenges of transformation in Central Asian countries. It analyses the reform measures and the challenges confronted in the digital transformation of higher education and reaches conclusions. Moreover, it enumerates the cases of digital transformation in five countries, such as Kazakhstan, offering a reference for understanding the relevant situations in Central Asia.
  • White Paper on Higher Education in the Era of Artificial Intelligence

     

    This White Paper attempts to explore the current approaches and directions for the effective application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology in higher education teaching, and advocates that all stakeholders in higher education collaborate together to promote the proper use of the technology and the formulation of relevant policies. The White Paper is committed to providing a relatively comprehensive overview of topics related to AI and higher education, as well as the visions and outlooks of UNESCO-ICHEI and IIOE, to the institutions and educators within the IIOE partner network. It also presents specific solutions and possible action paths.
  • Research Report on Digital Transformation of Higher Education Teaching and Learning

     

    This Report is jointly prepared by the International Centre for Higher Education Innovation under the auspices of UNESCO (UNESCO-ICHEI) and the Institute of Education (IOE) of Tsinghua University, focusing on the digital transformation of teaching and learning. This report analyses the background, current situation and framework, and elaborates on the transformation content, characteristics, strategies and directions from six aspects, including institutions and majors. It aims to respond to the numerous challenges faced in the process of promoting the digital transformation of higher education, and provides relevant parties with ideas and methods for dealing with the digital transformation of teaching.
